AI Recommendation Rate
AI recommendation rate is the share of buyer-intent prompts for which an AI engine explicitly recommends your product — names it first, calls it the best fit, or picks it over alternatives — rather than merely mentioning it. It is stricter and more revenue-correlated than mention rate, because recommendations steer shortlists directly.
The gap between being mentioned and being recommended is where deals are won or lost. An answer that lists you fourth 'as another option' and an answer that opens with 'the best choice for this is you' both count as mentions; only one moves pipeline.
Scoring recommendations requires reading the answer's stance, not just its entities: who is named first, who gets the qualifying praise, who is framed as the default versus the alternative, and whether the recommendation survives constraints ('for enterprise', 'on a budget'). Claim-level analysis of the verbatim answer is what makes this classification trustworthy.
Tracked over time per prompt, recommendation rate is also your displacement detector: a question whose recommendation flips from you to a rival is the single most actionable event in AI monitoring, because it names the exact battleground and often — via citations — the source that caused it.
